- Supervise and mentor a team of customs analysts by setting clear goals, providing feedback and coaching, supporting development, and fostering an inclusive, high-performing team culture.
- Oversee the accurate assignment of HS codes and tariff classifications for goods.
- Lead the determination and validation of preferential origin of goods under applicable Free Trade Agreements (FTAs).
- Maintain and update origin determination procedures, including rules of origin analysis based on bill of materials (BOM).
- Support internal and external audits, customs inquiries, and risk assessments.
- Develop and maintain SOPs, training materials, and knowledge-sharing tools.
- Identify and implement process improvements and automation opportunities.
- Ensure accuracy and compliance of trade documents and maintain records in line with legal and fiscal requirements.
- Impact Analys: Assess regulatory, trade, and geopolitical changes; provide strategic recommendations to mitigate risks and seize opportunities.
- Training Development: Desing and deliver targeted, up-to-date trade compliance training aligned with global regulations.
- Risk Assessment & Reviews: Lead risk assessments and internal audits; identify vulnerabilities and implement corrective actions.
- Performance monitoring: Define and track KPIs; use data insights to enhance compliance processes and report performance trends.
- Develops and maintains positive relationships with internal and external collaborators and partners to coordinate the implementation of cross border trade solutions.
- Delivers high quality service for internal global trade and compliance projects to drive operational process or policy improvements.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in customs classification and rules of origin.
- At least 3 years of experience in a supervisory or team leadership role.
- Strong knowledge of the Harmonized System (HS), General Rules of Interpretation (GRIs), and Free trade agreements.
- Proficiency in MS Office, particularly Excel.
- Fluent English, both written and spoken.
- Bachelor's degree in a related field (economic, logistic, financial) or equivalent experience.
- Experience in the agri-food or commodities sector.
- Experience managing SAP.
