You will be at the forefront of building and maintaining the highly available private cloud infrastructure that powers our , directly impacting public safety.This role requires a leader who can blend strong technical expertise with exceptional mentorship to foster a high-performing team and deliver innovative solutions. This is a "player-coach" position where you are expected to contribute to the code and lead by example.What You'll Do:Lead, mentor, and empower a team of platform engineers in a 24/7(on-call) operational environmentDefine and execute the technical vision for our private cloud platform, focusing on best practices in virtualization, automation, and distributed systems.Actively contribute to the team's codebase, tackling complex technical challenges and writing code for critical infrastructure components and automation.Oversee the team's end-to-end ownership of the platform, including system design, implementation, testing, delivery, and maintenance.Drive seamless collaboration with other engineering teams to ensure the reliability and performance of mission-critical applications.Champion a culture of innovation, accountability, and continuous improvement within the team.Basic RequirementsTechnical skills - must haveStrong understanding of Linux operating systems (RHEL preferred).Experience with virtualization technologies (e,g PROXMOX, VMware ESXi, KVM).Experience with container orchestration platforms (Kubernetes, K8s).Proficiency in scripting languages (e.g.Bash, Python, Ruby).Hands-on experience with automation of infrastructure and application deployments (e.g.Ansible, Terraform).Experience with continuous integration/continuous delivery (CI/CD) tools (Jenkins, GitHub Actions).Understanding of networking concepts and principles, and security best practicesSoft skills:Fluent EnglishAbility to define and guide the overall mission, goals, and roadmap of the platform team.Problem-Solving and Decision-Making: Strong analytical skills to resolve complex technical and organizational challenges efficiently.Excellent ability to articulate technical concepts, manage stakeholder expectations, and align team efforts with organizational priorities.Drive for implementing best practices, encouraging innovation, and improving processes and technologies.Excellent communication and collaboration skills.Problem-solving and analytical thinking abilities.Strong attention to detail and a commitment to quality.Open to learning new technologies and adapting to changing requirements.Experience:2+ years of experience in leadership roles8+ years of experience in a Platform Architect, Senior DevOps, System Architect, or related rolesExperience managing resources and timelines to ensure the successful delivery of platform initiatives.Hands-on experience with the technologies mentioned above.Experience with large enterprise IT systems hosted on a private cloudExperience with highly available, zero-downtime platformsProven experience in ‘automate everything’ organizationsIn return for your expertise, we’ll support you in this new challenge with coaching & development every step of the way.
