Due to a dynamically growing order intake for the retrofit packages on Wärtsilä 2-stroke Main Engines, together with increased interest for services offered by Wärtsilä on sustaining ship's efficiency, emissions, fuel consumption, and decarbonisation, we want to strengthen our Field Service capabilities.We are now looking for a Field Service Engineer 2-stroke to strengthen our Field Service team. The preferred location is Gdansk, Poland.What will you be doing?
  • Carry out the mechanical, supervisory and occasionally troubleshooting works on Sulzer, Wärtsilä, WinGD 2-stroke main engines.
  • Perform Field Service activities related to Service Products installation for 2-stroke diesel engines on board vessels.
  • Perform mechanical and/or electronic & automation related installation of Service Products and Wärtsilä's solutions for engines in service.
  • Perform technical assessment of the installations, Perform pre- and final commissioning of the installed product according to the guidelines.
  • On site cooperation with the team-mates, managing the activities during the work execution.
  • Interact with customer and stakeholders during the work execution - Interact with Field Service and Technical Service back-office during work.
  • Submit internal and external reports for work progress status, up-dates and final reporting for the assigned work.
  • Prepare final Service Work Report and report for travel related expenses on time and ensuring expected Wartsila's quality.
To be successful in this role, we expect you to have:
  • BSc degree in Engineering and/or proven experience (3years minimum) in a field for service works with installation of mechanical, electric and auxiliary equipment. Experience with work on Wärtsilä's products will be beneficial.
  • Deep understanding of the principles of operation of 2-stroke engines. Eagerness to learn further to service the retrofit products.
  • Good understanding of technical instructions, drawings, schematic diagrams (e.g. pneumatic, electric systems).
  • Awareness and readiness to take up the tasks for mechanical and electrical troubleshooting both on engines, auxiliary systems and our service products.
  • Readiness to travel and work abroad (foreseen up to 200 days/year).
  • Very good English skills - spoken and in written.
  • Fluent Polish.
  • Good reporting skills (in written and verbally) for reports issued on daily basis, for submitting final reports.
  • Capable to collaborate seamlessly within the team members of various nationalities, to communicate efficiently with customer, supervisors as well as with internal or external stakeholders
  • Good skills in MS Office
