- Accounting Standards Knowledge: Familiarity with key financial reporting standards including IAS 32/39, IFRS 7, and IFRS 9. Demonstrates understanding of business models and the corresponding accounting treatments.
- Month-End Close Expertise: Proven track record in closing month-end financials for market products. This includes:
- Reconciliation between Front Office (FO) systems and Accounting Rules Engine (ARE)
- FO to General Ledger (GL) reconciliations
- Journal entries and postings
- Management of cash breaks and nostro-vostro controls
- Balance sheet substantiation
- Product Lifecycle Awareness: Understands major lifecycle events of financial products and their accounting implications.
- Technical Accounting Skills: Strong candidates can articulate accounting events through T-accounts and engage effectively with accounting policy and implementation teams.
- Market Product Specialization: Brings deep expertise in at least one market segment, such as:
- Foreign Exchange (Spot, Forwards, Options)
- Debt Markets (Rates, Credit, Structured Products)
- Equities (Cash, Securities Lending & Borrowing, Structured Equities)
- Change Management Experience: Has worked as a Business Analyst within a change function or contributed meaningfully to strategic change initiatives as a Subject Matter Expert (SME).
- Data-Driven Mindset: Comfortable working with complex market product datasets, deriving insights, and translating them into actionable requirements, user stories, and discussion points.
- Control Orientation: Promotes both functional and non-functional aspects of change, with a strong focus on control and risk mitigation.
- Agile Methodology: Possesses a general understanding of Agile project management and demonstrates a willingness to deepen expertise in Agile practices.
