With the accomplishments, commitment and passion that you bring, I’m excited about what we will achieve together towards realizing AstraZeneca’s bold ambitionThe Senior Manager, Global Transparency Operations is part of the Global Payment Transparency team that is responsible for fulfilling AstraZeneca’s external payment disclosure obligations across Europe, the United States (US), Latin America, and Asia-Pacific as well as international countries with new emerging transparency requirements. The Global Payment Transparency team is part of the overall GBS Compliance, Legal & Contracting Operations (CLCO) service tower, aligned to Finance.The Senior Manager will be partnering with the GPT Director in the development and execution of the Global Payment Transparency process operations. The Senior Manager plays pivotal role in team’s delivery by leading team’s efforts, supporting and coordinating tasks across the team, coordinating projects and internal collaboration. Working in a complex, matrixed high activity environment, the Senior Manager will be responsible for performing data mining and reconciliation activities for key stakeholders, conducting root cause analysis of anomalies, recommending appropriate action/remediation plans. The candidate must be hands-on, detail oriented, and possess strong interpersonal, communication, critical thinking and problem-solving skills.Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  • Acquire an in-depth understanding of reporting requirements across various country’s disclosure obligations to be able to support and address basic inquiries from internal and external customers
  • Provide oversight to the Data Analysts and Specialists preforming manual data collection and data processing procedures fulfilling AstraZeneca’s global payment transparency disclosure obligations. Lead team effort and delivery
  • Perform or assist in compiling of various payment transparency disclosure reports across AstraZeneca and Alexion with focus on different region’s payment transparency in required localized formats within predefined timelines to ensure accurate and timely reporting
  • Execution of data reconciliation efforts and quality checks in partnership with local market contacts to monitor completeness and accuracy of reports throughout the year
  • Partnership with the GPT Director in the development and execution of the Global Payment Transparency manual data collection operations
  • Serve as subject matter expert in the understanding, use and integration of the global payment transparency system
  • Serve as point of contact to activity owners, business process partners, internal and external suppliers relative to payment and transparency reporting processes and procedures
  • Partner with internal and external stakeholders to implement a consistent approach to the data collection and compilation of payment transparency data across US, Europe and International markets
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of the organizations overall risk management and QA/QC program, including the entity and process level controls and monitoring protocol process, script development, sample selection, procurement of source system data, testing, documentation of findings, and remediation efforts
  • Respond and support queries from management and key stakeholders as needed
  • Participate in continuous improvement projects and other system enhancements aimed at improving processes across the team and overall data quality
  • Support internal and external audits of payment transparency data, e.g. Internal Audit, Compliance, as necessary. Perform problem solving and root cause analysis of data quality issues
  • Support driving and embedding a culture of ethics, integrity and compliance
  • Participate in policy meetings and training on an as needed basis
Project Management Component:
  • Provide support including but not limited to internal and external communication and training programs, project planning, development and tracking, intranet sites
  • Manage collation and analysis of business information, consolidation and maintenance of up to date procedural documentation
  • Manage internal projects, coordinate work of internal and external project resources, manage relations with clients and stakeholders, oversee project execution, timelines and deliverables
  • May be asked to support or lead initiatives around MDM management and cleansing, disputes and resolutions, pre-disclosure, vendor training, and audit remediation
  • Support monitoring of progress of initiatives and work streams through scorecards and metrics
  • Liaise appropriately and proactively coordinate with key stakeholders to deliver assigned responsibilities
Critical Requirements:
  • The candidate must be a strong hands-on self-starter, detail oriented, and possess excellent interpersonal, effective communication, advanced critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
Minimum Specific Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree (ideally Accounting, Finance)
  • Demonstrated knowledge of SAP, and purchase to pay systems / processes, Procurement
  • Experience in finance, auditing, quality assurance/control, SOX and/or risk management
  • Understanding of payment transparency principles
  • Excellent communication skills – focused on effective communication, both written and verbal
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to handle competing projects simultaneously
  • Strong ethical, collaborative and influencing skills
  • Excellent computer skills, including Advanced use of Excel data
Preferred Background:
  • Additional certifications (e.g., CPA)
  • Experience in or with the biopharmaceutical industry or a consulting firm working with pharmaceutical clients
  • Demonstrates a thorough level of knowledge of accounting processes and/or financial reporting
  • Experience with providing data quality control/assurance
  • Understanding of Research and Development (R&D) and/or pharmaceutical commercial operations
  • Working knowledge of / experience with payment transparency requirements in EFPIA, the US Open Payments, LATAM and the ASIAPAC countries
  • Global / cross-cultural experience
