We develop cloud-native services with high reliability and massive scale on top of Akamai Cloud (formerly Linode) the most distributed and closest to the edge cloud platform in the world.Be part of enhancing our organisationYou will work at the heart of the Internet building and operating systems gathering telemetry from the Akamai next-generation cloud computing platform. You will join other software engineers in a cross-functional scrum team that owns the design, development, deployment, and maintenance of services and products used by thousands of internal and external Akamai customers.As a Senior DevOps, you will be responsible for:

Participating in the design, development, improvement, operation, and automation of observability solutions for internal Akamai services
Following modern DevOps practices, building new services, or enhancing the existing ones
Using observability tooling to proactively monitor systems we own
Testing, profiling, and monitoring performance of the JVM-based systems and applications
Partnering with product owners, development, and test groups to create rapid cycles of feedback and improvement

Do what you loveTo be successful in this role you will:

Have advanced knowledge of Web technologies and modern observability tools (Prometheus, VictoriaMetrics, Grafana)
Present an understanding of distributed big data systems and databases (ex. Apache Cassandra)
Understand JVM performance characteristics and apply best practices for scaling Java-based distributed systems
Have experience with developing software in GNU/Linux or Unix environment
Demonstrate experience with working with Internet protocols including TCP/IP, HTTP, DNS, and TLS/SSL
Demonstrate you are familiar with Bash and Python or other scripting languages
Have a Bachelor's diploma in Computer Science, Engineering, another related field, or equivalent experience
