- Technical leadership: Lead the architecture and implementation of complex, mission-critical platform services that serve millions of users
- System design: Design and build highly scalable, fault-tolerant distributed systems using microservices architecture and cloud-native patterns
- Cross-team collaboration: Work closely with product engineering teams to understand requirements and design platform solutions that accelerate their delivery
- Mentorship: Guide and develop junior and mid-level engineers through code reviews, pair programming, and technical mentoring
- Technical strategy: Contribute to technical roadmap planning and make architectural decisions that balance innovation with maintainability
- Engineering excellence: Drive best practices in code quality, testing, monitoring, and deployment across the platform organization
- Ownership of your Code: Support the features and services you build, including participating in on-call rotations when needed and handling operational responsibilities
- 7+ years of software engineering experience with at least 4+ years in senior individual contributor roles
- Proven track record of architecting and building large-scale distributed systems in production environments
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience
- Technical mentorship experience with demonstrable impact on junior engineers' growth
- Expert-level proficiency in Java, Python, or similar backend languages with deep understanding of performance optimization
- Advanced knowledge of distributed systems architecture, including microservices, event-driven architecture, and data consistency patterns
- Production experience with Apache Kafka, Kubernetes, Docker, and cloud platforms (AWS preferred)
- Strong foundation in database design, optimization, and distributed data management
- Experience with infrastructure as code, CI/CD pipelines, and DevOps practices
- Understanding of system observability, monitoring, and debugging complex distributed systems
- Proven ability to lead technical initiatives and influence engineering decisions across teams
- Excellent communication skills with experience presenting technical concepts to diverse stakeholders
- Growth mindset with enthusiasm for learning new technologies and sharing knowledge with others
- Strong problem-solving abilities with experience debugging complex production issues
- Collaborative approach to engineering with experience working in cross-functional teams
- Fluency in English (speaking and writing) as our company language
- Staff Engineer experience or demonstrated readiness for technical leadership roles
- Experience with Quarkus, Terraform, Elasticsearch, Debezium, ClickHouse, or similar technologies
- Experience with LLMs/MCP/Agents (Claude/Gemini/AWS Bedrock)
- Open source contributions or technical writing/speaking experience
- Previous experience scaling engineering teams or establishing technical standards
